A Banarasi katan silk saree in deep black, the pallu and the borders worked entirely in real gold zari. Buti-work across the body in the same gold. An evening saree, an after-dark saree.
The black is dyed in a single small batch at Varanasi; the gold is real (not metallic film) and develops a quiet patina with age. Allow this saree to age — never polish it.
